The cast of Stranger Things has grown close (and grown up a lot) since the show premiered on Netflix in 2016. Many of the show’s stars were romantically paired together on screen, but they all didn’t necessarily end up together offset.
Millie Bobby Brown love life has been a hot topic on social media since she rose to stardom on the Netflix series. When the Emmy nominee appeared on “The Guilty Feminist” podcast in April 2022, she discussed how her portrayal online changed since she turned 18 two months prior.
“Any 18-year-old is dealing with navigating being an adult and having relationships and friendships and being liked and trying to fit in,” she shared at the time. “It’s all a lot, and you’re trying to find yourself while doing that. The only difference is that, obviously, I’m doing that in the public eye, so it can be really overwhelming.”
Brown later began dating Jake Bongiovi in 2021, and the couple announced their engagement via Instagram in April 2023. Brown isn’t the only Stranger Things star whose love life has made headlines. Sadie Sink‘s dating history garnered attention after she starred in Swift’s All Too Well short film, which debuted in November 2021. At the time, the actress was photographed with Patrick Alywn, the younger brother of Swift’s then-boyfriend, Joe Alwyn.
Back in Hawkins, Indiana, Sink shared her first kiss with costar Caleb McLaughlin. Their characters — Max and Lucas, respectively — took a break from hunting demogorgons to attend their school’s Snowball Dance and shared a romantic moment in the season 2 finale.
Though their characters locked lips, Sink and McLaughlin ended up just being great friends. But that doesn’t mean sparks didn’t fly on set for others, Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton, who play onscreen couple Nancy Wheeler and Will Byers, sparked rumors in 2016 and confirmed their relationship more than one year later.
In 2018, Dyer opened up exclusively to Us Weekly about what she loves most about Heaton. “He’s alright, I guess. He doesn’t mess up our scenes too much!” she joked. The pair are still together but keep the details of their relationship private.

Millie Bobby Brown
Brown made her red carpet debut with boyfriend Jake Bongiovi, the son of rockstar Jon Bon Jovi, at the 2022 BAFTA Film Awards in March 2022. The couple announced their engagement in April 2023 and have since welcomed a daughter via surrogate. Bongiovi and the actress tied the knot in May 2024. Brown was previously linked to YouTuber Jacob Sartorius, David Beckham’s son Romeo Beckham and professional rugby player Joseph Robinson.
Finn Wolfhard
In June 2021, the musician confirmed his romance with actress Elsie Richter in a since-deleted Instagram post. Wolfhard claimed to The Washington Post in November 2021 that he was blackmailed by fans to confirm his relationship with Richter.
Sadie Sink
Though her outing with Alwyn took the internet by storm in September 2021, Sink appears to be single. The Texas native has largely kept details of her love life private.
Noah Schnapp
Schnapp has also kept his love life relatively private and appears to be single. While he hasn’t shared the details of his current relationship, Schnapp has opened up about his not-so-secret crush on Zendaya many times. He recalled meeting the Euphoria actress for the first time in March 2020, telling Jimmy Fallon that she smelled great.

Gaten Matarazzo
Matarazzo and his girlfriend, Lizzy Yu, have been together since March 2018. Four years later, Matarazzo posted a photo of Yu via Instagram celebrating their anniversary. In September 2018, Matarazzo gushed to Us exclusively about how much he and his family adore her, noting, “She’s great. … My brother and my sister get along with her great.”
Caleb McLaughlin
McLaughlin appears to be single and has kept his dating history private.
Joe Keery
The Free Guy star dated actress Maika Monroe after they met on the set of their film After Everything in 2017. The pair made their red carpet debut together at the season 2 premiere of Stranger Things and were been photographed together on numerous occasions since. Keery made a rare comment about his relationship with Monroe in August 2021, telling GQ, “There are advantages [to dating someone in the same industry] as well: somebody who kind of understands what’s going on with you in a pretty deep way. But yeah, I think she’s like me. She doesn’t take it all too seriously.”
They have since called it quits.
David Harbour
The Black Widow actor got married to British singer Lily Allen in 2020 but their marriage came to an end five years later. He was the stepfather of her two daughters, Marnie Rose and Ethel Cooper, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Sam Cooper. Harbour previously dated Maria Thayer from 2009 to 2011 and Julia Stiles from 2011 to 2015.
Winona Ryder
Ryder has been in a long-term relationship with fashion designer Scott Mackinlay Hahn since 2011. In the 90s, she was engaged to Johnny Depp. The exes dated from 1990 to 1993 before calling it quits. Natalia Dyer
Dyer has been in a relationship with Heaton since 2016. They made their official red carpet debut at the 2017 British Fashion Awards in London. Dyer opened up about her relationship with Heaton during an interview with Cosmopolitan UK in May 2022, noting, “We were colleagues first. It’s a standard, natural thing that would’ve happened either way. We work on the same show – naturally we would do interviews together and things like that. The weirdest thing about [our relationship] is other people’s perception and reaction to it. Everything else just feels very human.”
Charlie Heaton
Heaton has been in a relationship with Dyer since 2016. He told V Man in 2019, “Because we work in the same industry and have had similar trajectories, we’ve gone through it together. Sharing that does bring you closer. They understand something that maybe no one else would. You go into high-pressure situations together but you can share those insecurities or whatever they are. The great, happy times, too. … Really f–king sweet!” Heaton shares a son with musician Akiko Matsuura.

Brett Gelman
Gelman announced via Instagram that he and his longtime love Ari Dayan got engaged. “SHE SAID YES!!!” the actor — who plays Murray Bauman on the Netflix series — captioned pics of his proposal in April 2023. He was previously married to screenwriter Janicza Bravo from 2015 to 2018.
