Meghan King and Jim Edmonds’ Relationship Timeline: From ‘RHOC’ to Divorce

Love conquers all? Not so much. Meghan King and Jim Edmonds faced cheating allegations, fertility struggles and Bravo cameras before their marriage fell apart in 2019.

The former couple tied the knot in 2014. Shortly after their nuptials, King, who is 14 years younger than Edmonds, joined the cast of Real Housewives of Orange County. The couple went through IVF to welcome their daughter, Aspen, in 2016, and twin sons, Hart and Hayes, in 2018.

King and Edmonds split in November 2019, four months after the former baseball center was accused of being unfaithful to the reality star, which he denied. Their divorce was finalized in May 2021, but they continued to have ups and downs through the years, as King temporarily lost custody of their kids in 2025 after an investigation by Child Protective Services, Us Weekly exclusively reported.

Scroll through to relive the highs and lows of the estranged couple’s relationship:

During season 10 of RHOC, Vicki Gunvalson slammed King and Emonds’ marriage.
“Jim, talk to me in five years when you’re divorced,” Gunvalson told the former baseball player during the episode.

King was candid with fans and viewers about her struggles to conceive. “I have a lot of friends who have had fertility issues. Some talk about it and some don’t talk about it, but one thing is consistent: It’s hard on every single one of them,” she told Us in June 2016. “I’m an open person, so I wanted to show my process and the heartaches and the ups and the downs that go with IVF so people can say, ‘It’s OK to feel this way.’”
Later that month, the Bravo star announced she was pregnant: “We are so thankful to have a healthy baby girl on the way. IVF was well worth it!”

During season 12 of RHOC, Kelly Dodd accused King of having an affair with Edmonds during his marriage to Raski — and claimed the athlete was cheating on King while she was pregnant. They denied all of the allegations.

The couple announced in December 2017 that King was pregnant with twin boys. A month later, the blogger confirmed she was leaving RHOC after three seasons.
“I know this is what I must do. I must focus on my family and my pregnancy,” she said at the time. “I will miss the rush of the first all-cast event of the season, the anticipation of receiving each week’s episode, the thrill of wrapping the reunion. I have made soul sisters in Shannon Beador and Tamra Judge and that can’t be lost. They have touched my heart and I would do anything for them and I know they feel the same way about me – what a gift to have found that on RHOC! But I guess it’s time for me to become an actual real housewife of sorts. Oh, the irony!”

The former Bravo personality hinted that there was trouble in paradise in October 2018, revealing the duo had “become complacent in our lives and have taken each other for granted” in a lengthy blog post.
“Our marriage needs it,” she wrote, referring to their Mexican getaway. “We’ve had three babies in under two years. … We need shining and buffing. We need US back … and the sad part is that we never even realized ‘we’ were missing.”

Edmonds denied cheating on King in an exclusive statement to Us in June 2019.
“Regrettably, I had a lapse in judgment. I engaged in an inappropriate conversation with this person,” he admitted after reports surfaced that he had an affair. “At no time was there any type of relationship or physical contact. Absolutely none. This is someone trying to profit from my name. I am aware she has done this to others in the past.”
“Clearly, I made a very poor decision to expose myself and my family to this type of person,” he continued. “For this, I am truly sorry and sought forgiveness from my wife. “I’m outraged over the intent to ruin my family and intend to take legal action. We were never having any problems in our marriage. My attorney is in possession of documents wherein this person has admitted fabricating large portions of her ‘story.’”

King opened up about her husband’s infidelity in a heartbreaking blog post titled “I’m Sad” in June 2019.
She wrote that Edmonds told her he had not been physical with the other woman but that he’d “paid her off to protect me so I’d never find out.” “Do I believe him? I don’t know. Because I don’t trust him anymore,” she wrote. “Physical or not, he still had an affair and he admits this to me.”
Adding that her wedding ring “symbolizes fraud,” the mom of three admitted that her face was stinging “from the salt of my tears.” Yet she had hope for the future of their relationship. “Marriage is a choice on the bad days. And on the good days marriage is easy and beautiful,” she concluded. “No one said it would be easy, I just didn’t think it would be this hard.”

Later in June 2019, Us Weekly exclusively revealed the name of Edmonds’ other woman: Jennifer McFelia Villegas. Meghan spoke to Us after she was identified, saying, “I only blame my husband for his actions: he made the choice to betray my trust and jeopardize our marriage. His recklessness also allowed this woman to profit from my heartbreak — but now that her name is out there, she won’t be able to shake down any other families as I rebuild mine.”
Villegas responded to the accusations in a statement to AllAboutTheTea, saying, “I want to make a few things very clear — I never set anyone up, blackmailed anyone nor have I attempted to ruin anyone’s family. All my relationships have involved two consenting adults. I made a poor decision to enter a relationship with a married man, and for that I am sorry.”

Us Weekly broke the news in October 2019 that Edmonds had filed for divorce from King one day after the pair’s fifth wedding anniversary. “Meghan and Jim have been fighting,” a source told Us at the time. “The latest fight began when he went to a recent hockey game and she began interrogating him about who he went with.” Another source noted that the pair got into an argument and she called the police. Authorities chalked it up to a verbal dispute and no charges were filed.

Their split turned nasty after the Bravo alum accused the former baseball player of having an affair with their 22-year-old nanny, Carly Wilson. Edmonds and Wilson, who were spotted at a hockey game together, both denied the accusations repeatedly.
“It’s one thing to be accused of something. It’s another thing to be so negligent and so careless, and ruin the lives of innocent young people.. I did not sleep with our nanny,” he wrote in October 2019 via Instagram before slamming his ex. “We have been treating and raising this young girl like she is our own child. For someone to accuse me of sleeping with her is not only wrong, it’s disgusting and irresponsible. … Just because you’re extremely witty and intelligent, and know how to play the Instagram game. Doesn’t give you the right to use that platform to wrongfully accuse. Not only is it irresponsible. It is dangerous and puts my family in harms way.”
King, for her part, released a lengthy blog post titled “Broken.”
“In the wake of the sexting situation, my husband was drinking and partying with much younger women, including several of our babysitters, and I found this gallivanting inappropriate, immature, and downright odd,” the reality TV personality wrote. “While I initially wrote it off because during several of these outings, his 22-year-old daughter was present, given his previous indiscretions, I was uncomfortable. Even more so when he started lying about where he was going or who he was going with—and deleting entire text conversations on his phone with several of these young women. … To be clear, I don’t know if Jim slept with our babysitter or whether they were just being exceedingly inappropriate by hanging out socially without either of them telling me (and Jim expressly lying to me about it). I’ve gone back and forth with my thoughts for a couple days but as I write this, I don’t think he did. But I still don’t understand why he’d lie. And why would she lie?”
King concluded that she was “broken” and “buried in despair” about the split.
“I love my husband and I’m devastated that our marriage is being broken up in the ugliest and messiest way,” she wrote. “My step kids, Landon and Sutton, have lost a stepmother whom they love and will have to endure another divorce and broken home in their short lifetime. And my three babies who will likely never remember their parents being married. … I cry at the drop of a hat. But I am enduring. I will set an example for my children and I will teach them to love and respect people while also knowing not to condone unethical or wrong behavior.”

As Real Housewives stars rallied around King, Edmonds discussed his split from the Bravo star in an exclusive statement to Us Weekly, saying he had weathered “what has been one of the most emotionally exhausting sleepless five days of [his] life.”
“It saddens me tremendously that my wife is hurt,” he said. “After having a few days to digest the situation, I realize that something that occurred in a split second spiraled out of control with no way to stop it. We were both separately surprised to find out that the media had received details of our private situation without our knowledge.”
In his statement, Edmonds vowed to “make it right again” with King. “I have way too much love for my wife and kids for this to happen and it’s time for us to get back to the private life we used to live,” he added. “Meghan is a truly special woman who my kids are so fortunate to have as their mother.”

In response to Edmonds’ statement, King exclusively told Us Weekly that the former athlete was “completely speaking” for her. “I have endured prolific controlling by Jim and it isn’t slowing down,” she added. “Even when I make an unassuming post on Instagram, he hurls insults at me for a battery of made-up indiscretions. I’m sick of the abuse and I won’t engage anymore — and I don’t have to.”
She also refuted his suggestion that they were trying to make their relationship work: “That’s not fair to me. He is not my mouthpiece, and I believe the facade he presented is false and manipulative to the public while using and taking advantage of me.”
The reality star continued: “Divorce had been discussed as something that could be possible but I truly thought he could change and work through his demons. Divorce never really crossed my mind. I had to find a divorce lawyer in a matter of hours. He filed so quickly that it seems to me (and others) it had been ready to go and he just was waiting for an event to happen so he could pull the trigger.”

Us Weekly broke the news in November 2019 that police came to King’s house and questioned her ability to care for the couple’s three children.
“Meghan came home from being out with friends and she had a couple glasses of wine,” a source told Us. “It was the first time Jim stayed at her house and put the kids to sleep since he filed for divorce, so she met up with friends. She didn’t drive. … She was washing her face when she heard someone knock around 10:30 p.m. An officer was there with Jim and told her Jim said he was worried she couldn’t care for [their] kids.”
The officer concluded that King was fit to take care of the kids, but she was “appalled,” an insider told Us. “She has never been anything short of a fantastic mother,” the insider added.
Edmonds later sounded off on the situation, telling Us Weekly, ”I did not call the police on my wife. I called the police to protect the situation and make sure there were no further issues.” The following day, he posted photos of new digs on his Instagram Stories, writing, “Moving day.”

The “Intimate Knowledge” podcast cohost plans to keep her and Edmonds’ eggs “frozen until eternity,” she said during a January 2020 episode of the “Juicy Scoop” podcast. She went on to say, “I don’t know if I’m done having kids. I’m 35; my kids are little. I could totally have another kid and I do love the idea of a nuclear family. However, my kids are a lot of work. They’re young. And I need to get out of the weeds right now.”

During a January 2020 episode of her “Intimate Knowledge” podcast, King alleged that she and Edmonds had a threesome with one of her pals early in their marriage.  At the time, she claimed that he was vacationing with the female participant in Cabo. “When he goes to Cabo for a birthday party, from my understanding, he takes this girl with him. This threesome girl,” she said. “This girl who I thought was my friend. I cast aside my uncomfortability with a threesome, everything I had in my head about a threesome being weird and gross, because I was fun and wanted to do things for my husband.”

During a January 2020 appearance on “Juicy Scoop With Heather McDonald,” King revealed that she has “no contact” with her two stepchildren. “I’ve been blocked from their phone numbers, from their Instagrams,” she claimed. “They’ve been told things, according to Jim, that I’ve never said.”

In a blog post from March 2020, King opened up about how she was learning to get through her divorce. “I have learned to cope with what I call ‘Emotional Releases,’” she wrote at the time. “Let me tell you something, some days I’m barely hanging on by a thread. Some moments I can’t breathe. Sometimes I get in bed and the bed is vibrating, but it’s not: I’m just shaking.”

During the coronavirus quarantine in March 2020, a source told Us that Edmonds was not happy with King’s decision to fly the couple’s three kids out to Los Angeles without his knowledge as he remained isolated in Missouri. “Meghan took the kids to California unbeknownst to Jim. He can’t see his kids and he’s not going to travel,” an insider told Us. “She can’t do that without talking to him first and Jim is saying that this was not discussed with him before she did it.”
Meanwhile, King’s rep told Us that she had previously obtained permission to take the children from Missouri on “a preapproved trip, signed off on by the guardian ad litem.”

The reality TV personality threw major shade at her estranged husband shortly after he confirmed that he had tested positive for the novel coronavirus. “Got a text from my ex the other day, he said he missed me,” she lip-synced in an April 2020 TikTok. “I said, ‘I’m sorry I can’t talk right now, I’m at a funeral.’ He said, ‘Oh, my God. Who died?’ I said, ‘My feelings for you did. Bye, f–ker.'”

During an April 2020 episode of her “Intimate Knowledge” podcast, King admitted that she was “kind of over” dating apps: “I guess that’s where my energy is with the dating, just to kind of date myself for a little bit. … I want to be partnered up. I want that relationship. It was never my idea to get divorced and yet here I am and I’m happier than ever now but I do want a partner.”

After his estranged wife claimed that she was “barely” receiving enough in child support payments to buy groceries, Edmonds fired back in a statement to Us. “If what Jim is giving to Meghan each month for child support doesn’t cover her groceries, she must be getting her eggs from Faberge,” his rep said in April 2020. “Jim also pays every single bill for both of her homes, all the medical bills and practically every other expense related to the kids and the houses. Jim continually goes above-and-beyond what he is required to do.” The athlete’s response came shortly after the estranged couple struggled to make their shared custody work amid the coronavirus pandemic.

King revealed during a May 2020 episode of her podcast that she dropped Edmonds’ last name. “I’m Meghan King,” she announced while introducing herself. She also changed her moniker on her Instagram account at the time.

Days after Us reported that King moved on with businessman Christian Schauf, whom she met on a dating app, she made their relationship Instagram official in May 2020. Schauf later told Page Six that the way King dealt with Edmonds was “impressive” and “admirable,” adding, “I really like that about her.”

A source exclusively told Us in August 2020 that Edmonds was “talking with his legal team about getting full custody of the children because he is getting increasingly upset that [King] has been out of town during portions of her custodial time.” The blogger later explained that in the 10 months since her split from Edmonds, she left their kids with her mother for only “three days (with my nanny helping her).”

After King announced on her blog that the estranged couple’s son Hart was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, Edmonds’ rep exclusively told Us, “Jim is unaware of any such diagnosis and, if it is even true, it is completely unconscionable and absolutely disgraceful that Meghan would announce this on social media without discussing it with him first.”

After King split from Schauf in November 2020 and moved out of the St. Louis home she once shared with Edmonds, the retired MLB star slammed her for leaving the place “dirty and messy” in a series of Instagram Story videos. “Not used to this landlord stuff here,” he quipped. King, who moved to a new home in the area, later told Us that she was “choosing to only look for the positive” amid the drama.

One day after Jim slammed Meghan for leaving a “dirty” place when she moved out, she shared a telling quote via her Instagram Story. “My home is filled with toys, has fingerprints on everything and is never quiet,” the quote read. “My hair is usually a mess and I’m always tired, but there is always LOVE AND LAUGHTER. In twenty years my children won’t remember the house or my hair, but they will REMEMBER the time we spent together and the LOVE they felt.”
Meghan also commented on a fan asking about his video. “I hired my cleaning lady to clean,” she replied. “She actually cleaned today (coordinated with my ex but I provided and paid for her). What happened?”

Us exclusively confirmed in May 2021 that the reality TV personalities finalized their divorce. “It feels good to put that behind me and just look to the future,” King said at the time, gushing over new beau Will Roos.
Edmonds proposed to O’Connor two months later, and in August 2021, a source told Us the engaged couple were “living their life privately” and “enjoying this exciting new chapter.”

July 2022
King revealed that she and Edmonds have a “horrible” relationship, more than two years after their divorce. “We have [a worse] relationship than we did when we split up,” she said during an appearance on Caroline Stanbury’s “Divorced Not Dead” podcast at the time. “It’s horrible. It’s so detrimental for the kids [and] for us as individuals.”
In fact, things between the pair are so tense that King revealed they communicate solely through the court-monitored app My Family Wizard. “It makes me feel safer because it makes me feel like the verbal abuse will be toned down a little bit more,” King said. “Unfortunately — and shockingly — that’s not always the case, but it does give me a little bit more solace knowing that I have eyes that can be on it.”

Edmonds slammed King in July 2022 after she posted an Instagram video detailing their son Hart’s struggle with potty training. “Jim wishes Meghan would respect their children’s privacy and stop putting their son and his challenges in the spotlight,” a rep for the former athlete told TMZ. “If Meghan wants to improve her ability to coparent with Jim, it might be a good idea for her to stop constantly disparaging him.” The broadcaster also claimed that his ex-wife misidentified Hart’s diagnosis in her post, which stated that the little one has cerebral palsy. According to Edmonds, Hart has periventricular leukomalacia, or PVL, which causes a softening of white brain tissue near the ventricles.

In September 2022, Us confirmed that King filed for a temporary restraining order against Edmonds due to “frequent and consistent verbal abuse” three months prior. The order of protection request was later dropped.

Shortly after Edmonds tied the knot with O’Connor, King revealed that she was thrilled about her ex-husband’s new marriage and the “stability” it provided for their three children. “[Kortnie] is who my children have known for the last three years. And that stability is really important. I haven’t been able to give them that stability and a partner, which is a huge piece of mom guilt for me,” she confessed to Us. “But at least Jim — with his mountain of faults — is able to provide that. I’m gonna give him props where props are due.”
King added that between her recent restraining order and Edmonds’ honeymoon, she has felt more comfortable with their coparenting relationship. “Ever since I got the [temporary restraining order] things have pretty much been better. Plus, he’s in Italy right now, so he’s totally leaving me alone. It’s, like, his wedding day was also the best day of my life.”

October 2022
King claimed that Edmonds didn’t invite their three children to his and O’Connor’s nuptials, telling Us, “I never, like, heard anything about it. I can’t ever imagine getting married without my kids.”
The former center fielder, for his part, fired back at the allegations.
“Meghan has continually and intentionally harassed and disparaged Jim to get attention for herself. Then she turns around and complains that she is having difficulty coparenting with Jim; go figure,” his rep told Us in a statement at the time. “And the unfortunate part is that she puts her own best interests above those of her children and uses them as pawns to get herself publicity. Hopefully, at some point, she will get the help she needs and decide to lead a meaningful and productive life.”

The former reality star reflected back on her marriage to Edmonds while looking at old photos.
“Sometimes looking back on photos like this one I think about the ignorant happiness I felt,” King wrote via Instagram alongside a snap of her holding her daughter, Aspen, as a baby. “In this moment I had no idea things would be the way they are today. … I’m a little bitter and I wear that pain with a badge of honor because of how far I’ve come. I envy others with nuclear families and I mourn the one I lost.”
While the mom of three noted that she is the “happiest and wisest and most powerful” she’s ever been, she admitted it came at “a very steep price.”

The former San Diego Padres player accused King of exaggerating their son Hart’s health issues during an episode of the “Hollywood Raw” podcast. He claimed their little one was never officially diagnosed with the disorder, but agreed with King that Hart does have periventricular leukomalacia.
“I’m like, well, OK then tell the truth. Don’t tell the sad stories all the time. Just be straight,” he said. “I don’t know if the truth has come out of her mouth since [Kortnie] and I have been together. I can give you an entire list, if not all of three years, of straight lies.”
King, meanwhile, fired back during an episode of her “Intimate Knowledge podcast. “Hart has cerebral palsy, Jim,” she shared. “What kind of father doesn’t know that?”
According to the former Real Housewives star, Edmonds allegedly “has not attended” any specialty doctor’s appointments for their son. “When I say that, I mean neurologist, ophthalmologist, audiologist — he’s never gone to one IEP [Individualized Education Program] meeting. None of that.”
The Bravo personality added that while her ex has “access” to Hart’s medical records, he’s “never asked to see” them. “He has access to the CP diagnosis. It has been given to all [Hart’s] schools, all his teachers. I have them printed out in Hart’s file sitting right next to me,” she claimed at the time.

The former MLB star alluded to coparenting issues on his respective social media page.
“Sad when your ex tells the kids, you don’t want to see them when you’re busy then doesn’t let you see them when you’re out of town. Unknown …” he claimed via his Instagram Stories.
Edmonds’ rep later elaborated on his client’s cryptic message in a statement to Page Six, saying King had hired a nanny for the weekend while she headed to a retreat instead of having the professional athlete watch them.
“Jim thinks it’s really sad the kids are being left with a nanny instead of their father, who changed his Super Bowl plans so he could be with them. Hopefully, Meghan enjoys her narcissism retreat,” his rep claimed.
King, meanwhile, took to her own social media to respond to the allegations.
“I’m sick of verbal and emotional abuse not being classified as ‘abuse,’” she wrote via her Instagram Stories. “The courts don’t help protect me, my country club doesn’t protect me, the police don’t enforce, lawyers don’t want to deal with this, so I’m taking matters into my own hands.”

King got emotional while discussing the effects of divorce via social media.
“Nobody really talks about coercive control and the after-effects of divorce,” the “Intimate Knowledge” podcast host said in a video posted via her Instagram Story. “People say, ‘It’ll get better in time. It’ll get better with time.’ It’s been three years.”

March 2023
King fired back after Edmonds filed a request to modify their “impractical and unworkable” custody arrangement. The duo previously submitted their proposed schedule 30 days in advance and hammered out an agreement with help from a Parent Coordinator, but Edmonds asked the court to establish a more set schedule. Edmonds also slammed King in a statement to Us, calling her “unstable, unfit [and] unwilling to coparent and unable to provide an environment for the children that is emotionally and physically safe.”
The former Bravo personality, meanwhile, defended herself against Edmonds’ allegations in a statement to Us. “I’ve been the primary parent and single mother of my children for 6 years,” she claimed. “He and his team’s wild claims are untrue, and anyone who is close with me or my children can attest to that — my children have always been and will remain my top priority.”

Edmonds called out King after she wore a sweatshirt explicit sweatshirt — which read “F—k This, F—k That, F—k You” — to pick up their kids from school.
“Jim obviously feels it is completely inappropriate to wear that sweatshirt around children, especially at their child’s school,” a rep for the former athlete told Us at the time. “You would think common sense would kick in at some point.”
King pointed out in statement of her own that none of their children “can read,” adding, “But I doubt Jim knows that.”

Edmonds’ wife, Kortnie Edmonds, called the police on King in May after she allegedly entered the couple’s home without permission, Us exclusively reported on September 3. Sources close to King disputed Kortnie’s characterizations of events.
In bodycam footage from the Frontenac Police Department obtained by Us, King told police that Jim was “emotionally abusive” and claimed he had called her earlier that day to ask if she could drop off a dress for their daughter.
Jim responded to King on September 24, with his rep telling Us, “As usual, Meghan is telling tales. Her and Jim barely communicate, so if someone is emotionally abusing her, it’s not Jim.”
His rep also denied King’s claims to the police that she would have sole custody of their three kids in the near future.
“Jim is an active and present father to all his children. The unfortunate part of all this is that it’s the kids who suffer the most. Jim has always been willing to coparent in a respectful and productive way however Meghan has yet to reciprocate,” the rep added. “Jim has a long history of consistently making decisions and acting in a way that is best for his kids.”

King was stripped of physical custody of her and Edmonds’ three kids following an investigation from CPS, multiple sources exclusively told Us Weekly. King was granted supervised visitation while Edmonds has sole physical custody. According to the source, the decision is temporary and a hearing will be held on whether the custody arrangement will become permanent.
A source told Us that the investigation occurred after a school employee called CPS about King. A hearing is scheduled to take place in early December to further determine custody matters.

Us Weekly confirmed on December 8 that King and Edmonds reached a custody deal after she temporarily lost custody of her three kids.
Edmonds’ rep Steve Honig told Us, “The custody hearing has been called off, and both sides have reached an agreement that is in the best interests of the children.”
