The stars of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have not only connected meaningfully on screen, but they also found romance in their real lives.
Black Widow actress Scarlett Johansson married Colin Jost in October 2020, more than a decade after she joined the MCU.
Other Marvel stars have found on-set romances. Tom Holland and Zendaya play love interests Peter and MJ, respectively, in the Spider-Man films. After years of relationship rumors, Holland and Zendaya were spotted kissing in his car in July 2021 and confirmed their engagement in early 2025.
Tom Hiddleston’s fiancée, Zawe Ashton, meanwhile, joined him in the Marvel universe — in her own project — years after the pair started dating.

Robert Downey Jr.
The Iron Man star dated Sarah Jessica Parker from 1984 to 1991. Robert Downey Jr. married Deborah Falconer in May 1992, but after welcoming son Indio in September 1993, they finalized their divorce in April 2004. Downey tied the knot with Susan Downey in August 2005; their son, Exton, arrived in February 2012, and their daughter, Avri, was born in November 2014.
Chris Evans
Chris Evans seemingly went public with his romance with Alba Batista in January 2023, posting a sweet video via Instagram looking back at how they spent 2022 scaring each other as much as they could for a laugh. He and Batista reportedly tied the knot in September 2023. News broke in October 2025 that the couple welcomed their first baby.
The Captain America actor previously dated Jessica Biel from 2001 to 2006. He then dated Minka Kelly on and off from 2007 to 2015 and Jenny Slate from 2016 to 2018. Over the years, Evans has been linked to Lily James, Emmy Rossum, Christina Ricci, Dianna Agron, Ashley Greene and Lily Collins.
Chris Hemsworth
Thor star Chris Hemsworth dated Isabel Lucas from 2005 to 2008 before marrying Elsa Pataky in December 2010. The actress made a cameo in the Marvel Cinematic Universe when she played a wolf woman making out with Hemsworth’s character in 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder. The couple welcomed daughter India in May 2012 and twin sons Sasha and Tristan in March 2014.
Scarlett Johansson
Black Widow actress Scarlett Johansson was married to Ryan Reynolds from 2008 to 2011 and Romain Dauriac — with whom she welcomed daughter Rose in August 2014 — from 2014 to 2017. She tied the knot with Colin Jost in October 2020, and he confirmed the birth of their son, Cosmo, in August 2021.
Johansson previously dated Jack Antonoff from 2001 to 2002, Jared Leto in 2004, Josh Hartnett from 2005 to 2007, Sean Penn in 2011 and Nate Naylor from 2011 to 2012.
Mark Ruffalo
The Avengers star Mark Ruffalo married Sunrise Coigney in June 2000. They welcomed son Keen in June 2001, daughter Bella Noche in May 2005 and daughter Odette in October 2007.
Jeremy Renner
The Avengers: Endgame actor Jeremy Renner dated Rashida Jones in 1995 and Jes Macallan from 2005 to 2010. He was married to Sonni Pacheco from 2014 to 2015. Their daughter, Ava, arrived in March 2013.
Chris Pratt
The Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt dated Emily VanCamp from 2004 to 2006. He was married to Anna Faris from 2009 to 2018, during which time they welcomed son Jack in August 2012.
He tied the knot with Katherine Schwarzenegger in June 2019, and their daughter, Lyla, was born in August 2020. They welcomed daughter Eloise in June 2022. The pair added son Ford to their family in November 2024.
Brie Larson
Captain Marvel star Brie Larson was linked to Cody Linley from 2006 to 2007 and John Patrick Amedori from 2008 to 2012. She was engaged to Alex Greenwald from 2016 to 2019. After ending her engagement, Larson began dating Elijah Allan-Blitz in 2019, and they were together for nearly four years before they split.
Tom Holland
Prior to finding fame, Spider-Man: Homecoming actor Tom Holland dated childhood sweetheart Elle Lotherington. He was linked to Zendaya in 2017, but the costars denied dating rumors for years. Holland also dated Olivia Bolton from 2019 to 2020 and was linked to Nadia Parkes in 2020. He and Zendaya were eventually spotted kissing in July 2021.
“Zendaya and Tom really did their best to keep their romance under wraps when they first started dating,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly in June 2023. “That has shifted over time and they acknowledge that everyone knows they’re together. So Tom is proud to call Zendaya his girlfriend and express how much he loves her because he wants the world to know.”
News broke in January 2025 that Holland and Zendaya are engaged.
Paul Rudd
The Ant-Man star Paul Rudd married Julie Yaeger in February 2003. The couple welcomed son Jack in 2006 and daughter Darby in 2010.
Anthony Mackie
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier star Anthony Mackie was married to Sheletta Chapital from 2014 to 2018. The exes share four sons, whose names they have chosen to keep private.
Elizabeth Olsen
WandaVision actress Elizabeth Olsen was engaged to Boyd Holbrook from 2014 to 2015. She then dated fellow MCU star Tom Hiddleston in 2015. Us Weekly broke the news that Olsen quietly married Robbie Arnett in 2020.
Benedict Cumberbatch
The Doctor Strange star Benedict Cumberbatch dated Olivia Poulet from 2001 to 2011 and Anna Jones from 2011 to 2012. He tied the knot with Sophie Hunter in February 2015. They welcomed sons Christopher in June 2015, Hal in March 2017 and Finn in January 2019.
Zoe Saldana
The Guardians of the Galaxy actress Zoe Saldana was engaged to Keith Britton from 2010 to 2011 and dated Bradley Cooper from 2011 to 2013. She married Marco Perego in June 2013. Their twin sons, Cy and Bowie, were born in November 2014, while their son, Zen, arrived in February 2017.
Tom Hiddleston
Loki actor Tom Hiddleston dated British actress Susannah Fielding from 2008 to 2011 and was later linked to Jessica Chastain in 2013 and his Avengers: Infinity War costar Elizabeth Olsen in 2015. In 2016, Hiddleston’s summer romance with Taylor Swift caught plenty of attention from fans before they called it quits on their whirlwind romance in September.
The Thor actor walked the red carpet at the Tony Awards in September 2021 with Zawe Ashton, confirming their romance. The two played a married couple in Betrayal, a West End play that they brought over to Broadway in 2019. Amid her romance with Hiddleston, Ashton joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2023’s The Marvels.
Us confirmed in March 2022 that Hiddleston and Ashton are engaged. They confirmed her pregnancy the following June and welcomed their little one later in 2022. Hiddleston confirmed in December 2025 that he and Ashton had welcomed their second baby.
Simu Liu
Simu Liu, who stars as Shang Chi in the MCU films, attended the 2022 ESPY Awards that July alongside Jade Bender, confirming their romance after they were previously spotted together on several Los Angeles date nights earlier that year. They split two months later. He’s been linked to music marketing executive Allison Hsu since late 2022.
Will Poulter
Will Poulter, who played Adam Warlock in 2023’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, confirmed his romance with model Bobby T in August 2022 when they were spotted packing on the PDA.
The Maze Runner actor, who previously sparked relationship rumors with Midsommar costar Florence Pugh, dated Yasmeen Scott in 2019.
