Lala Kent and Ambyr Childers didn’t get off on the right foot — but have since developed a surprising friendship.
The pair first butted heads amid Kent’s romance with Randall Emmett, who was married to Childers from 2009 and 2017. Emmett and Childers welcomed daughters London and Rhylee in 2010 and 2013, respectively, before calling it quits.
One year after Emmett confirmed his romance with Kent, Childers made headlines for calling out Kent via social media.
“Since you don’t want to answer my text messages, I’ll try here,” she wrote via Instagram in August 2019. “Lala, I appreciate your love towards my children, but until you’re officially their stepmother please refrain from posting my children on social media! I hope [you] understand where I’m coming from. Many thanks.”
Kent and Emmett got engaged in 2018 and welcomed their daughter, Ocean, in March 2021. After postponing their wedding due to COVID-19, Kent sparked split speculation in October 2021 when she removed all traces of her then-fiancé from her social media feed. One month later, Us confirmed that Kent and Emmett had called it quits.
Later that year, Emmett claimed that Kent and Childers were teaming up to launch a smear campaign against him.
“I believe that Ambyr and Lauren [Kent’s real name] are working together in [an] attempt to destroy my reputation to give them both an advantage for custody,” Emmett alleged in documents obtained by Us Weekly in November 2022.
Kent seemingly slammed Emmett’s comments via her Instagram Story that same month.
“When the day comes that you crash and burn, you can try to blame everyone around you for your demise. And not if, but when that day comes — where your truth is revealed that you desperately tried to cover up — you will have to look in the mirror and know [that] no one did this to you but you,” Kent wrote.

December 2019
After the singer and Emmett announced their engagement, the former couple spent the holidays with the producer’s ex-wife. “Happy Chanukah and Merry Christmas, a very special one for so many reasons. @ambyrchilders @lalakent #modernfamily,” Emmett wrote alongside a sweet video of Kent and Childers via Instagram.
January 2022
“I have a lot of compassion for her,” the beauty mogul explained during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, noting that she and Childers had a “very bumpy” history. “I think she is a great woman and a great mom. I will be honest — I think she is the best thing that ever happened to that guy.”
Kent continued: “I just think the way that he and I came to be, looking back on it, was so gross and messy and just something that was built on nothing but lies. Knowing what I know about her, I think she was a good one and he messed up.”
March 2022
While celebrating daughter Ocean’s birthday, Emmett revealed he was ringing in the festivities with Childers. “Ocean getting love from everyone,” he captioned footage of his ex-wife holding his youngest child.
September 2022
“Happy birthday mama!” Childers wrote in honor of the businesswoman’s birthday. In response, Kent replied, “Thank you, boo!”
At the time, a source exclusively told Us that the twosome have formed a bond. “They’re friends,” the insider shared. “They’re supportive of each other and have each other’s backs.”
October 2022
Us confirmed that Childers filed a request for a temporary emergency order citing “legitimate fear for [her] safety and well-being” as the reason she took action. In the legal petition, the actress alleged that she discovered “threatening” messages exchanged between Emmett and his lawyer after contacting her ex-husband via email about their eldest daughter.
Kent showed her support for Childers by sharing screenshots of articles about the legal drama.
“Ambyr’s story is not mine to tell,” she wrote via Instagram. “The many other alleged victim’s [sic] stories are also not mine to tell. I am horrified by what took place, and the alleged emails between R*ndall E*mett and his counsel.”

“Day with the babes,” Kent captioned an Instagram snap of her and Childers celebrating Easter early with their respective kids.

Childers showed her support after Kent announced she is expecting her second baby. In response to Kent’s social media post, Childers wrote back, “Congratulations mama! ❤❤❤.”
April 2024
Childers attended Kent’s sex reveal party for her second baby, whom she conceived via sperm donor.
“I think it’s a girl. I don’t know why but I just had this feeling, maybe because I have two girls,” Childers said in a video shared via the “Give Them Lala” podcast’s YouTube Channel.
At the end of the video, it was revealed that Kent is expecting a baby girl.
September 2025
Before launching her iHeartRadio podcast, “Untraditionally Lala,” Kent revealed her first guest was Childers.
“She has a fantastic resume, but she and I know each other because we share a baby daddy, and it was a very bumpy road for the two of us, and we have just gotten so close,” Kent exclusively told Us Weekly while celebrating iHeartPodcast’s new shows on September 10. “She’s like my sister. We are family. Our kids are our sisters, so we have a very wonderful, beautiful relationship, and we support each other, and we know each other’s wounds. She’s just a wonderful person.”
During the September 17 episode of the “Untraditionally Lala” podcast, Childers recalled the moment her relationship with Kent changed for the better.
“The turning point for me was when you called me one day. … You literally just made amends to me,” Childers said. “I never thought that day would come, and it’s everything I needed in my healing. That allowed me to have the closure I needed between you and I because I know you’re not a bad person. You weren’t a bad person. Maybe you made bad choices, but f*** it. I make bad choices all the time.”
January 2026
Kent and Childers premiered their joint podcast, titled “An Unlikely Affair,” on January 9. In the debut episode, Kent surprised Childers when she revealed that she once thought about the actress while masturbating.
“I was so horny when I was pregnant, like, it was bad,” she said. “I would, like, look at the corner of things and be like, ‘If I could just launch myself [at it] just right.’ I remember I would go into the closet, [where] it was the only area where there wasn’t a direct camera on me, and I would think of you.”
Childers, for her part, quipped that she “f***ing loved” hearing Kent’s confession.
