Tom Welling’s wife, Jessica Rose Lee, shared her honest reaction to Iliza Shlesinger’s comments about kissing the actor in Chasing Summer.
Lee, 38, opened up about Shlesinger’s comments about planting one on Welling, 48, while filming Chasing Summer via Instagram on Sunday, January 25, during the Sundance Film Festival. In the video, which Lee recorded, Shlesinger, 42, posed with Welling and put her hand on her chest.
She then moved her hand off the actor, because she felt the pose was “too intimate.” Shlesinger then leaned into the camera and said, “I kissed your husband in the movie, but he was very sweaty.”
The actress hilariously added, “I just want you to know it was like kissing a honey-baked ham.” Lee then laughed from behind the camera and zoomed in on Welling’s face, who was smiling.

“There are way worse things to be compared to! At least he’s sweet!” one quipped, as a second added, “Well that was specific 😂.” A third wrote, “A honey baked ham😂😂😂😂 I don’t think that’s what most of us would imagine it would be like kissing @tomwelling.”
Chasing Summer follows Jamie (Shlesinger) after she loses “both her job and her boyfriend,” per IMDb. “Jamie retreats to her small Texas hometown where friends and flings from a fateful high school summer turn her life upside down,” the description continued.
Welling, who plays Chase, stars with Shlesinger, Lola Tung as Harper, along with Garrett Wareing (Colby) and Cassidy Freeman (Marissa). The movie originally premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on Monday, January 26.
Welling and Lee tied the knot in November 2019 in front of friends and family at the Sunstone Vineyards & Winery in San Ynez, California.
Back in 2018, Lee confirmed to Us Weekly that she and Welling were expecting their first child together. “We are over the moon,” she gushed, adding that they were “filled with joy [and] love.” In January 2019, they welcomed son Thomson, now 7. They later expanded their family again with the birth of their second son, Rocklin, now 4.
In November 2025, Lee and Welling shared a sweet post while celebrating their anniversary. In the pic, they coordinated in western looks while cuddling up.

Lee, for her part, rocked a blue denim button-down top and matching pants. She accessorized with an off-white cowgirl hat.
She sat on Welling’s lap as he also wore a dark denim top and black pants. He completed his look with a black 10-gallon hat. In another shot, the duo shared a kiss while riding horses together.
“Happy anniversary to the one who keeps my heart in stride. ♥️,” Lee captioned the photos.
The family had another celebration earlier this month, when Thomson turned 7. “Happy 7th birthday to the leader of our band, who tells everyone he’s turning 8 ❤️💔❤️,” Lee captioned a photo of her little one learning how to play the guitar.
