“Bussin’ With The Boys” podcast cohost Will Compton can’t help but laugh at how “seriously” some people took his remarks about being snubbed from Travis Kelce’s and Taylor Swift’s wedding.
“Flabbergasted at how many people took this seriously,” Compton, 36, wrote via X on Tuesday, July 7, alongside a link to TMZ’s story about him being “flabbergasted” after he failed to receive an invite to Kelce, 36, and Swift’s star-studded Madison Square Garden nuptials.
Compton — who has known Kelce for years, as they are both involved in Tight End University — further explained, “A couple media outlets reached out directly, asking if I’d go on record, if I’ve spoken [with] Travis, if there are others that are upset.”
The former NFL player called the whole situation “insanity!!! 😂😂,” claiming, “I was just busting balls” when he made his initial comments.
Who Didn’t Attend Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Star-Studded Wedding?
Compton made headlines on Monday, July 6, when he called into the “Wake Up Barstool” podcast to talk about Kelce and Swift’s Friday, July 3, wedding in New York City.
During the episode, host Dave Portnoy pointed out that “all of Tight End U” went to the ceremony — except Compton and his “BWTB” podcast cohost Taylor Lewan.
While Compton and Lewan, 34, have worked with Kelce, a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, at the annual three-day football camp for years, he claimed not getting an invite didn’t hurt his feelings — at first. (Compton and Lewan also emceed the “Tight Ends & Friends” concert at the event, which is hosted by Kelce and NFL stars George Kittle and Greg Olsen, in late June.)
What Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s BFFs Have Said About Wedding Invites
“I’m gonna be honest, I didn’t think nothing of it,” Compton said of the alleged slight on Monday as he called in from his vacation in Italy. “All these photos I keep seeing, I see [sports writer] Dean Blandino got an invite. Is that real?”
Compton had spotty reception while calling from the treadmill overseas, so some of his conversation was cut from the broadcast.
“As I’ve been seeing these photos of everybody else at that wedding, I am pretty flabbergasted that we didn’t get the invite,” Compton added.
After Compton’s remarks started to pop up on different outlets, he rolled with it, poking fun at those who did make the cut.
“Don’t think I’ve ever seen Dean Blandino at Tight End University,” he wrote via X, alongside a story about him being flabbergasted over the Fox Sports rules analyst’s connection to the groom.
Former NFL quarterback Chase Daniel then responded, “Don’t think I’ve ever seen @_willcompton throw Kelce his first NFL TD … even in preseason,” referring to his time on the Chiefs with Kelce and teasing Compton in the process. Compton reposted Daniel’s joke via X.
On Tuesday, Compton also made another joke about his jab over Blandino, 54, getting an invite over him and Lewan.
Bussin’ With the Boys’ Will Compton Has a Hot Take About the Chiefs’ Season
“Of course Dean Blandino was invited to the wedding. He’s practically a teammate of Travis’s being a former NFL Referee,” Compton teased via X, seemingly poking fun at the ongoing rumors that the Kansas City Chiefs are in cahoots with the NFL referees which allegedly helps them win so many games.
While Compton got some backlash for his comments about America’s royal wedding, both he and Lewan did wish the couple well on their wedding day.
“Congratulations to Taylor and Travis!!” the pair wrote on their “BWTB” podcast social media page on Friday, sharing a photo with the happy couple from a prior event.
