Sydney Towle’s brother, Austin Towle, spread the influencer’s ashes in a special spot following her death at age 26.
“Sydney’s spirit will live on in the place that she loved the most,” Austin, 29, wrote via his Instagram Story on Sunday, October 4.
Austin included a video of himself on a boat in Hobe Sound, Florida, set to Sheryl Crow’s song “Soak Up the Sun.” Austin spread Sydney’s ashes in the water alongside some flowers.
Sydney died on August 5 following a battle with cholangiocarcinoma, which is a rare form of cancer in the bile ducts.

“We will always love you so much, Sydney. I am so proud of how hard you fought. I love you,” read a post shared via Towle’s Instagram account at the time. “Rest in Peace. Sydney Elizabeth Towle. November 15th 1999 – August 5th 2026. An endless ray of sunshine. A daughter, sister, and friend to so many.”
Austin later paid tribute to his late sister in a touching TikTok post. “Rest in Peace to the best sister ever,” he wrote. “Sydney fought so hard and was always so positive and spread happiness wherever she went. Thank you all.”
Sydney was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma in 2023 when she was 23. The influencer documented her cancer battle via TikTok, where she had more than 1 million followers. During her treatment process, she underwent chemotherapy and major liver surgery and had her gallbladder removed. Prior to her death, Sydney was gearing up to enter the next phase of a clinical trial involving tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) therapy.
“I almost had an idea it was cancer,” she told People in 2025 about receiving her diagnosis. “We all know our bodies pretty well. And when this started happening, I just had a feeling. When I went in for the ultrasound and they found the solid mass, I told myself, ‘Honestly, yeah, I’m just going to have to accept that this is probably cancer.’ So when they actually said it, I wasn’t really shocked.”

Despite her condition, Sydney remained positive and looked on the bright side even during tough days.
“People always ask why I’m so positive, and it’s like, why would I not envision the best-case scenario, the best way of things working out?” she said in a June social media video. “The alternative is to not do that and to just be sad.”
One day before her death, Sydney’s family gave an update on her condition, revealing that she was entering hospice.
“Sydney has been moved to hospice and is surrounded by her friends and family,” Austin wrote via TikTok over a photo of his family standing next to a hospital bed while holding stuffed animals. “Thank you for all your love and support.”
