Former Good Morning America cohosts Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes’ romance made headlines in November 2022 when the TV personalities — both then married to other people — were photographed getting cozy on various outings throughout the month.
The journalists’ relationship “blossomed from a close friendship,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly after the photos surfaced.
The following month, Us confirmed that the two were “out” at GMA3 following Robach and Holmes’ ongoing romance.
In December 2023, the couple debuted their iHeartRadio “Amy & T.J.” podcast and claimed that they were both separated from their respective spouses when their relationship began. (Robach and ex-husband Andrew Shue finalized their divorce in March 2023, while Holmes and ex-wife Marilee Fiebig reached a divorce settlement in October 2023.)
Robach and Holmes later announced their engagement during an October 2025 episode of the podcast.

The journalists first joined forces when they were picked to host the third hour of Good Morning America, GMA3: What You Need to Know.
“We really have an appreciation for where we are with this show. We could have plotted and planned for a possible show, but this one just happened, and it happened organically,” Holmes later told Resident Magazine about his teamwork with Robach.

“NO WAY I could have ever accomplished this alone! I love this running crew so much. We encourage each other, train together and finish together,” Robach captioned her Instagram post from the event, which include a snap of her and Holmes running together.

News of the GMA3 coanchors’ relationship broke when the Daily Mail published photos of Robach and Holmes on various outings throughout the month, including a shot of them holding hands and another in which the Arkansas native is touching Robach’s backside.

Though Robach and Holmes didn’t address the scandal on air they appeared to hint at the drama on the December 2 episode, quipping that they needed “words of wisdom” and joking about their “great week.”
“It’s too bad it’s Friday. It’s been a great week. I just want this one to keep going and going and going. Just enjoying it. … Take it all in,” Holmes joked, while his colleague laughed. “Speak for yourself,” Robach said.

The pair were placed on hiatus amid the scandal, with ABC President Kim Godwin reportedly calling Robach and Holmes’ relationship an ”internal and external distraction,” according to TMZ.

ABC confirmed the journalists were exiting the morning show two weeks after Us broke the news.
“After several productive conversations with Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes, about different options, we all agreed it’s best for everyone that they move on from ABC News,” the network said in an official statement to Variety at the time. “We recognize their talent and commitment over the years and are thankful for their contributions.”

The couple jetted off to Mexico for a PDA-filled getaway. The two were photographed cozying up together multiple times, including one moment where Holmes was caught grabbing Robach’s butt.

The twosome attended their first event together as a couple when they paid tribute to late public relations guru Howard Bragman at his memorial service in Los Angeles, according to multiple reports.

A source told Us that the twosome have “talked about” engagement and moving in together. “Friends feel they will get engaged soon because they were friends a long time before they became lovers,” the insider said. “They have a strong bond.”
However, Holmes and Robach didn’t want to rush their next chapter. “Amy hasn’t felt this strong for someone in a long time. It’s serious for her,” the source added, noting that Robach felt “genuinely happy” with the Arkansas native.

That same month, they both returned to Instagram with identical posts that showed them preparing for the New York City Marathon.

Robach and Holmes debuted their “Amy & T.J.” podcast, in which they revealed their side of the story regarding the scandal surrounding their relationship. Both stars claimed they had been separated from their respective spouses before kicking off a relationship.
“It was very clear to anyone who knew me that I was in the middle of a divorce,” Robach said in part. “T.J. is a much more private person than me and just chose to keep that to himself. But it was hard because anyone who was a viewer or anyone outside of a very small circle didn’t know that either one of us were getting divorced.”

Robach and Holmes revealed on their podcast that they’re ready to take the next step in their relationship.
“We are sharing with all of you that we are engaged and we’ve been engaged for just about a month now,” Robach said. “We wanted to let you all know before anybody else was able to; we’ve learned that lesson, I guess, in the past about our relationship.”
