Former Real Housewives of Orange County star Kelly Dodd has been accused of sharing sexually explicit images of an unidentified woman without expressed consent.
Dodd pleaded not guilty to the revenge porn charges during an arraignment hearing in May 2026. The former Bravo star and her husband, former Fox News reporter Rick Leventhal, have also publicly denied the allegations. What Are the Charges Against Kelly Dodd?
According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, prosecutors allege that Dodd “unlawfully and intentionally” distributed images of a Jane Doe engaging in sexual activity without proper consent in August 2025.
“[Dodd] knew and should have known that distribution of the image will cause serious emotional distress and Jane Doe #2 suffered that distress,” the Orange County district attorney’s court filing read.
Per the filings, Dodd and the woman originally agreed to keep the images private before Dodd allegedly “contacted the person and threatened to injure her, her property and her family.”
In addition to a disorderly conduct charge tied to the alleged August 2025 distribution, Dodd faces a battery charge stemming from an alleged June 2025 incident with an unnamed individual, plus a charge of making telephone calls with intent to annoy.
Kelly Dodd and Husband Rick Leventhal Respond to the Accusations
Dodd and Leventhal addressed the allegations on their podcast, “The Rick and Kelly Show,” ahead of her court hearing.
“I was like, ‘What the actual F is going on here?’” Dodd said at the time. “Then we see [the report]. It’s hilarious to me, by the way.”
Leventhal, for his part, said that the couple could not elaborate much since Dodd had yet to appear in court. He further claimed the initial report “got most of the facts wrong — like, completely wrong.”
Speaking on Dodd’s behalf, criminal defense attorney Cameron Talley added, “Kelly is not pleading guilty to anything. I’m confident she will not be convicted of anything, and confident that these charges will be dismissed.”
Dodd also teased more to come, writing in an Instagram caption: “It’s been an insane experience, and I can’t wait to share the true story.”
Kelly Dodd’s Family Rift
A source exclusively told Us that Dodd’s extended family cut her off amid the legal drama and refuses to engage with her unless she agrees to an intervention or seeks professional help.
“This has been a nightmare for her mother,” the source told Us of Dodd’s mother, Bobbi Meza, who is recovering from a recent stress that relatives blamed on stress. “[Kelly] self-sabotages.”
Dodd also addressed the family rift on her podcast, suggesting a family member may be fueling the story.
“I need some uplifting right now, because this is so insane, and I know it’s somebody in my family that is putting this stuff out, driving this,” she said. “And you know who it is.”
Kelly Dodd’s Case Will Hinge on Intent
Legal experts, who are not involved in the matter, believe that intent will be the central factor in the prosecution’s case.
“The main thing to know about revenge porn cases is that intent is really the key element for a successful prosecution,” Rachael Bennett, a certified family law specialist and senior attorney at Sullivan Law & Associates without ties to the dispute, exclusively told Us. “The evidence has to prove that the defendant shared intimate content that should have remained private, and not only was the content intentionally shared without the victim’s consent, but that the defendant did so with the intent to cause the victim severe emotional distress.”
Bennett also warned that Dodd’s vocal commentary on her podcast and social media could further complicate her defense.
“If her story ever changes, they can definitely pull clips from her show or use videos that she posts to social media to impeach her credibility, and then point out any inconsistencies,” Bennett said. “This is why we usually see defendants stick with the standard ‘no comment’ response while their cases are pending, because even the slightest misstatement can be disastrous for them.”
